"Ready To Ride" conveys the importance of wearing a helmet and following the traffic safety rules and laws when "driving" a bicycle. The children receive instruction in our on-site classroom beginning with a lecture format that leads into a practical encounter on our simulated city streets. The program uses puppetry to further imphasize the material presented concerning traffic signs, signal lights, and bicycle safety rules (hand signals, ride in single file, etc).
Following instruction, the children's skills are put into practice on our simulated streets that include traffic lights, various road signs and a railway crossing. This practical experience offers the children additional reinforcement of the lessons taught. The children are also encouraged to bring their own bicycle helmets so that safety instructors can fit the helmet correctly to each child.
