There is an expression that says “it takes a village to raise a child” and it is the same for the safety of our children. It takes a whole community to work together to ensure the safety of its children each and every day. To teach them to be instinctively safe as they grow up to become the nexxt generation of contributing members of their community. The South Eastern Alberta Safety Alliance Society (SEASAS) commonly known as Safety City, has a mission to lead our communities by promoting and delivering educational programs and build partnership collaboration to meet our health, safety, and injury prevention needs.
Each year the staff of Safety City deliver hundreds of safety related presentations from a core of ten program areas to just under 20,000 school age children from Kindergarten to Grade six. The scope of topics covered by our organization continues to grow and evolve as the needs of the participants continue to change. Whether it is car seat clinics, pedestrian and bus safety, Halloween safety, bicycle safety, cyber safety and bully proofing or just day to day safety at home, the commitment to each and every child we see is the same. To show the children that their safety and the safety of those around them is important and to give them the basic knowledge and skills to help them stay safe.
Accomplishing our mission is not a singular effort and any success we have had as an organization could not have been accomplished without our community partners who keep us moving forward. Numerous local agencies and businesses have graciously continued to step forward to fund programs and initiatives annually. Our sincerest thanks to each and everyone involved. It is safe to say that such partnerships will continue to make our future bright and allow us to expand our programs even more.
I would like to thank all our staff, volunteers, board members and community partners for their ongoing efforts and support for Safety City, and I look forward to working with all of you to create future success.
