Since 1981, Safety City has been part of Medicine Hat’s story — a place where generations of children have learned how to stay safe at home, at school, on the road, and in the community.

Now, we are transforming that legacy into a bold new vision — the Medicine Hat Safety Village, a brand-new facility in a new location that will expand and modernize youth safety education for years to come.

This evolution builds on what we’ve always done best — giving young people the knowledge and confidence to make safer choices — while introducing new, relevant topics such as:

• Online and digital safety

• Harm reduction and personal awareness

• Fire, traffic, and pedestrian safety, in collaboration with local service providers

It takes a village to prepare our youth for the challenges of today’s world — and together, we can do it before the lights and sirens.

The new Safety Village represents a renewed commitment to safety awareness. It will not be just a building — it will be a community-empowered movement that reaches the youth and their families.

Our vision includes:

• A purpose-built facility with classrooms, kitchen, meeting areas and digital safety labs

• Outreach programs that bring students from local schools to engage with trained educators

• Partnerships that connect schools, families, and community organizations to provide valuable and much needed services.
